C. Observation of World No Tobacco Day: World No Tobacco Day is observed on 31st May every year with a variety of activities and well-publicized programmes. Essay writing, Painting, Song writing, TV Spot, Radio Jingle, Drama, Rock (Group) Music and Anti Tobacco marathon competitions are organized. Local celebrities (who do not use tobacco) were also invited in order to have a more innovative program. The level of participation from the students and the general public is very satisfactory. The good response from the public may all be attributed to the attractive prizes for each item. The day is symbolically observed by organizing public gatherings, where popular artistes of the state are hired to entertain the audience. Street preaching is held at popular public places. The day is observed also in all the district headquarters of Mizoram. |
