1. Name of Theme/Project –
= Drugs Control Administration

2. Objectives/Target
= To ensure availability of essential medicines at an affordable price at all level which are safe efficacious and of standard quality. Also to educate public about rational use of medicine and harmful effect of its mis-use. Also issuance of Drugs License to qualified persons.

4. Innovation ( If any) -
= Two Days Refreshers Training Programme for Drugs Control Officers at Directorate of Health Services Conference Hall during 10th & 11th October 2007.

5. Factors enhancing the implementation of the programme -
= Fund provided for training by State Government.

6. Constraints (If any) -
= 1. Insufficient man-power
2. Poor mobility
3. Non- availability of Drugs Testing Laboratory

7. Recommendation/Suggestion -

1. Decentralization of power and to delegate Licencing Authority to All Asstt. Drugs Controller to take prompt and appropriate action in their respective jurisdiction
2. Providing sufficient fund for lifting of drugs sample to ascertain the quality and efficacy.
3. Development of enforcement staffs to assist Drugs Inspector in their field duties.
4. Deployment of Computer Operator in all District Offices and Headquarters.
5. Establishment of Drugs Testing Laboratory at Aizawl.
6. Creation of one Dy.Drugs Controller post.
7. Provision for providing vehicle to all District offices for prompt and speedy action in day to day works.
